About the job

This role was specifically carved out to lead a team of dedicated nurses in providing holistic palliative care services. Whilst there is an inpatient unit, the majority of services are delivered in the community.

You will play a pivotal part in driving operational excellence, implementing new initiatives, and supporting the team in delivering high quality care.

Nursing in this environment encompasses more than just the clinical - providing emotional, spiritual and family support is as important.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of nurses, providing frontline operational management, coordination and support.
  • Implement new directions and initiatives to improve processes, documentation, and templates, ensuring consistency and quality of care. Bed down structures, processes, policies, and systems
  • Support the professional development of experienced palliative care nurses as well as those new to the service - providing mentorship and learning opportunities.
  • Foster a positive and supportive team environment, a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

About you
  • You will be a Registered Nurse with current APC
  • Community nursing experience is essential -  ideally palliative but this could also include aged care, district or home based nursing.
  • You are a natural leader with the ability to implement and drive consistent change
  • A calm, thoughtful and considered problem solver, you are able to navigate challenges and address issues with courage and empathy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - able to lead and motivate a dedicated team.
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting the professional development of nursing staff.
  • Commitment to delivering equitable, compassionate, patient-centered care and making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.
