About the Organisation

This charitable trust provides kaupapa māori birth to death health and social services to whānau in Ahuriri and surrounding districts. They take a culturally grounded, whānau ora approach to delivery of services. Tikanga values of relationship, connectedness, participation, protection and partnership are at the heart of their values. 
About the role
  • Based in the Family Start team
  • Responsible for delivering home based, child centred whānau focussed services aimed at improving health, education and social outcomes for children and improving parenting capability and practice. 
  • Support, encourage and empower a caseload of approximately 16 whānau who either self refer, or are referred to the service from when they are hapu through to their tamariki turning one.
  • Providing practical support in areas of need identified by whānau
  • A government funded contract, this requires compliance with service related standards, good record keeping, documentation and reporting
About you
  • You will hold a relevant qualification (Level 7 or higher) ideally within a social work, education or health related discipline
  • Knowledge and experience of whānau ora service delivery in the community
  • Effective working relationships with whānau, communities and agencies
  • You will be proactive, warm and friendly, empathetic and non judgemental, full of life experience, hope and an aspirational attitude.
  • A genuine desire to see whānau grow and develop
  • Knowledge of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori is desirable
  • Great organisation and time management skills
  • Full Drivers Licence
