Registered Nurse - Theatre | Wellington_NewZealand

  • Wellington based. Monday to Friday roster, no night shift, free parking on site
  • Range of specialties with flexibility to broaden skill set
  • Lovely facilities, high utilisation rates, quality service, great team

Busy private hospital, Monday to Friday roster, close to public transport, arguably best operating theatres in the country - views and natural light!

About the organisation
This is a busy private hospital. With four theatres (the fourth recently opened to meet demand) they offer a variety of surgical procedures in Wellington including plenty of orthopaedic and plastics. With lovely facilities, stunning theatres, high utilisation rates, a quality service, supportive management and a collegial team this is a dynamic, fast paced environment where your nursing skills and scope can develop and your career will thrive.

About the job
As a Registered Nurse working in Theatre you will be scrubbing or circulating and ultimately providing safe, efficient and quality patient centred care. Whilst orthopaedic and plastic surgery is common, you will also work across a variety of other surgical specialties including general, ophthalmology, gynae, urology, ENT and oral - with different surgeons and teams. On offer is 0.8 FTE (or less) with the ability to flex up and down, family friendly shifts (morning, afternoon and day lists), no nights, no on call and Monday to Friday. Saturday work is exceptionally rare and if required confirmed by arrangement.

There are Consultants only in this hospital. No Registrars or House Surgeons means nurses have the opportunity to deal directly with the Surgeon and develop surgical assistance skills.

Skills and attributes required
Obviously, you will be a Registered Nurse with a current APC. You will have a strong customer focus, be committed to improvement initiatives and your own professional development. Theatre experience is essential. We prefer 2+ years. Ideally you will be a generalist able to work across multiple specialties. In addition you'll be:
  • Professional and eager to earn.
  • Curious and interested
  • An excellent communicator with brilliant listening skills
  • Calm and confident
  • Organised, methodical and precise, yet flexible
  • Accountable and resilient
  • A team player who interacts well with others
What’s in it for you?
This is a stunning facility. I'm told that once you work in these theatres you'll never want to leave. You'll receive excellent orientation and training, free car parking, access to on site cafe and contribution to health insurance.
