Kaupapa Māori driven charitable trust. Provide strategic & operational leadership & direction whilst ensuring heart & culture of organisation remains

About the Organisation

This fast paced Napier based charitable trust provides Kaupapa Māori driven, evidenced based, birth to death health and social services to whānau in Ahuriri and surrounding districts. They have a holistic approach to whanau and community wellbeing. They take a transformational, culturally grounded, whānau ora approach to delivery of services. Tikanga values of relationship, connectedness, participation, protection and partnership are at the heart of their values.
About the role

The impact of this organisation and the services it delivers has a profound impact on whānau in the community. After many years of service, the incumbent CEO is retiring and leaves a legacy of relationships and connectedness, stable contracts, good systems and processes and a strong financial position.

This is a position of leadership that will see you inspire, connect, understand and immerse yourself in the community you serve. We are looking for a CEO with enormous integrity who will take the organisation into the future, providing strategic and operational leadership and direction whilst ensuring that the culture and heart of the organisation remains.
About you

This role requires an experienced manager and leader, perhaps early in your CE/GM career, with further potential to grow and develop yourself and the organisation. Ideally your experience will come from a social service/health not for profit organisation. You will:
  • Have exceptional leadership skills, with the vision to look to the future while guiding the day-to-day operations with the support of your team. You are honest and transparent in your approach.
  • Be an expert communicator, inclusive and collaborative with political nous and a strong internal frame of reference.
  • Be experienced in maintaining networks and relationships; negotiating and managing funding contracts.
  • Think broader, differently and creatively. The upcoming health reforms bring challenge and opportunity
  • Be a team player. You won’t be afraid to roll your sleeves up and work in the community alongside your team and across the organisation.
  • Ideally have links to local iwi, whānau, hapu, marae and other relevant community networks and organisations
  • A deep understanding of Kaupapa Māori, tikanga and te reo Māori, and respect and understanding for the diversity of cultures in the community
Without a doubt you’ll have a genuine commitment and passion for the wellbeing of the community and will continue to harness the organisation's greatests strength - their sense of whānau.

This exciting, non judgemental, people oriented organisation has a culture of relationship and connectedness based on whānau ora and a big heart to serve. You will work with good humans, with good hearts who embrace whānau ora, tikanga and a servant culture of warmth, friendliness and care. You’ll participate in morning karakia, waiata and regular laughs, jokes and food. You will align personally with their values including being respectful, caring for and encouraging others, have huge integrity and a real desire for excellence and innovation.
