Youthline is a youth-centered community organization that seeks to relate to the needs of young people, respond to them, and support them to achieve their potential. Youthline works with young people, their families and all those in our community supporting young people.

About the Role

We are looking for an awesome person to help make a difference for young people/rangatahi nationwide. This role is a newly created one that will support in the expansion of an essential national service that has been there for kiwis for over 50 years.

Your Duties

Will be a dynamic mix of leadership and development to work with Youthline on their journey of enhancing the mental health services our youth can access by:

+Supporting clients in a telehealth setting - text, email, webchat and phone 
+Holding a senior escalation point for clinical decision making
+Leadership role in driving & supporting the ongoing development of best practice, policy, procedure and training materials for the service
+Provide training to staff
+Supporting the provision of on-call clinical support for the wider organisation as required
+Availability on weekends and evenings on occasion for trainings/orientations 
+Collaborating with Youthline leadership nationwide in the provision of a national Helpline
+Foster links with other mental health services and community organisations
+Potential to support with media engagement
+Will be holding direct line management for approx. 10 staff and volunteers, and leading review of practise and training/support for an additional 14 directly.  

Skills & Experience:

 A Fully Registered Social Worker, DAPAANZ practitioner or Psychologist
+ An experienced team leader or clinician ready and eager to lead
 Skilled in identifying and assessing risk (suicide, care and protection, self-harm) safety-planning, and interventions (crisis mental health, emergency services)
+ Able to make fast and effective clinical decisions 
+ Confident managing multiple concurrent conversations and assessments  at a time, in a telehealth setting
+ Adaptable to a dynamic working environment 
+ Great team player and effective communicator 
+ Calm, Grounded, Non-Judgmental
