COMPANY 
Youthline works with young people/rangatahi, their families/whānau and those supporting young people. 
We were established to ensure young people know where to get help and so they can access support when they need it.  At the core of Youthline’s work is the development of leadership and personal skills in young people. We do this by involving young people; Both those who seek assistance and those who wish to develop themselves. 
  
THE ROLE/ THE MAHI 
We are looking for amazing people to help make a difference for young people in crisis. We need those with experience working in Front-line Mental Health as well as those with in-depth, first hand experience in the Mental Health sector.

SPECIFIC TASKS & DUTIES 
  • Provide a high standard of clinical support to clients via various mediums including phone, text, email, and webchat
  • Provide mentoring and support to Helpline volunteers and peer support to staff
  • Work set rostered shifts from 8am - 12am in a collaborative team environment
  • Make time sensitive clinical assessments and decisions and hold professional boundaries
  • Ensure a strengths based, person centred approach
  • Facilitate effective communication with support agencies
  • Engage in ongoing training and development
  • Be available on weekends and evenings on occasion for trainings/orientations
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
It is essential that the successful candidate holds one of the below mentioned qualifications/ registrations.
  • Fully registered under the Health Practitioner Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act 2003 e.g. nurse, psychologist, psychotherapist, occupational therapist
  • A fully registered alcohol and drug and/or gambling practitioner member of the Addiction Practitioners’ Association Aotearoa–New Zealand (DAPAANZ) or,
  • A fully registered social worker or,
  • A counsellor fully registered with NZAC
  • Proven experience in mental health
  • Skilled in identifying and assessing risk (suicide, care and protection, self-harm), safety planning, and interventions and ability to make effective, time sensitive clinical decisions and review incident reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to build rapport with clients and their families / whānau quickly
  • Ability to show empathy with a calm, non-judgemental manner
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Passion and knowledge in supporting young people
  • Commitment to providing a culturally competent service and working bi-culturally
