About the Organisation
This leading social impact organisation exists to provide much needed support to children and families.
They provide a unique model of one on one support nationally complemented by programmes and peer-to –peer connection.
They are well respected, financially secure, have strong community connections and support medical and education research.
About the role
This is a 0.8 role working 4 days per week. You will be based in Auckland and provide services across the wider Auckland region. Home visiting is a key part of this role. The company have a fleet of vehicles that are used solely for this purpose. This is complemented by access to services at Starship Hospital. 
You will be providing assessment based practical, emotional and some financial support to children and their families during and after child cancer treatment. You will support families to utilise their strengths, build resilience, have access to appropriate resources as well as connect with parents in their community.
Experience, Skills and Attributes required
The Family Support Coordinator will need to be:

  • Warm, outgoing, passionate and positive
  • A great listener and respectful
  • A strong and resilient person
  • Experienced working with families during difficult times
  • Confidential, discrete and professional in your approach
  • Experienced with walking people through the grief, death and dying process
  • Able to work autonomously whilst also contributing to the wider team.
  • Well organised - ensuring timely reporting and accurate records
  • Empathetic, yet empowering
  • Excellent at building relationships with a wide variety of people - children, families, health professionals, agencies, volunteers
  • Legally entitled to work in New Zealand and hold a full drivers license.
  • It will be advantageous if you have experience of working in the health system
