About the organisation

The soil has been turned, foundations laid, the startup team in place and this newly formed private healthcare organisation is well on their way to building the first new hospital this region has seen in over 20 years. Early 2022 will see stage one of the hospital complete with stage two opening mid 2023. This is not just bricks and mortar; they are building a positive, empowered and collaborative team who will provide world class facilities and patient-centric service to surgeons and the community.

About the role

As Senior Financial Manager you will work in close collaboration with the CEO and colleagues. This is an extremely rare opportunity and will suit a driven, mid career finance professional excited by the prospect of playing a key part in leading the growth and long term success of the organisation from a new start up, to becoming a leading healthcare provider in New Zealand. You’ll set the strategy whilst also delivering the daily finance functions and will bring value through leadership, design and execution of the financial vision. You will be:
  • Leading the financial development and administration of the holding company, its subsidiaries and affiliated organisations
  • Developing and overseeing financial plans, forecasts and strategies; preparing all financial reporting for the Board
  • Managing budgets, cash flow, anticipating funding needs, participating in pricing structure planning
  • Leading contract and vendor negotiations
  • Completing all day to day accounting functions including GST and payroll
  • Maintaining the integrity of accounting processes and systems; assisting with selection, design and implementation
  • Analysing and communicating business risks and opportunities to inform operational decision making
  • Ensuring, monitoring and advising on operational compliance with audit, statutory, legislative and other requirements
  • Over time we expect your responsibilities will grow and you’ll begin to develop and lead a small finance team.
About you

To win this role you will be a passionate and values led individual that is innovative and self confident yet humble; action oriented and responsive. You’ll demonstrate a coaching style of leadership and be naturally collaborative. You will communicate with and influence a wide variety of stakeholders in a positive, supportive, engaging and productive manner. Being adaptable to changing priorities and conditions and coping well with ambiguity and complexity is a must. You’ll have attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture.

A tertiary qualification in finance/accounting is essential. Ideally with CA. You’ll have a proven track record of financial management and delivery of key business objectives -  ideally from within a consumer facing, high growth organisation and/or the health sector. You’ll have demonstrated commercial acumen and a deep understanding of a variety of financial systems, business analysis tools and techniques. You’ll be experienced working with Lean-Agile methods.

What’s in it for you

Benefits to your professional career growth and development are vast. Opportunities to join an organisation at this stage of growth are rare, especially in an environment where you’ll be given the time, space and trust to do your best work - your way. A lifestyle location and an attractive package is on offer. You’ll work with a team of like-minded individuals who work passionately each day to push this organisation forward.
