This nationwide organisation is New Zealand’s largest provider of services to people with intellectual disabilities and their families.  Their services include residential care, supported living, specialist support, vocational support and social housing. They advocate for the rights, inclusion and welfare of all people with intellectual disabilities and support them to live satisfying lives in the community.
About the Job
We are looking for an Area Manager to provide leadership, direction, coaching and support to 10 direct reports and up to 200 support staff across Hawke’s Bay. You’ll develop a diverse and inclusive workforce and a culture where staff feel confident, capable, empowered and engaged. In addition you’ll work closely with community and wider health sector stakeholders, building relationships and creating new business opportunities.

This role is predominantly operational with a key focus on leadership of people. However, strategic oversight, financial management, an innovative approach to quality improvement, problem solving, advocacy and influencing change is also required.  
About you
You will:
  • Be an influential and consultative leader with demonstrated examples of building high performance teams
  • Have a professional approach to building networks and relationships across the sector and community
  • Be competent in handling HR related issues and can drive workforce and culture change
  • Have the financial and business operations experience to bring to business projects, planning and strategy
  • Have an understanding of the disability sector
  • Display genuine connections with service users and understand how to ensure person centred support is weaved through the services that are delivered
  • Not be afraid to roll your sleeves up, get out from behind the desk and work with and alongside your stakeholders
