Theatre Services Manager

About the organisation

Our client is one of New Zealand's leading private healthcare providers, with a strong national presence and a reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and high performing hospital environments.

This hospital based in Wellington is a well established, highly collegial site with an engaged surgeon group and a strong team culture. The service is entering a key phase of growth - creating a real opportunity for an experienced leader to step in and make an impact.

About the job

This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of the hospital - commercially, clinically and operationally. You'll be balancing immediate operational demands with longer term service improvement and growth.

Leading well established Theatre services, you'll work closely with Clinical Nurse Leaders to elevate capability, optimise performance and drive a high functioning, future ready team. At the same time, you'll partner closely with surgeons - your key customers - to ensure strong engagement, clear expectations and a seamless patient journey.

This is a role for someone who thrives in pace and complexity. One minute you're problem solving in theatre flow, the next you're reviewing utilisation data, shaping workforce strategy or contributing to wider hospital planning. You'll have access to exceptional real time data and insights - giving you the tools to make informed, impactful decisions.

About you

You're a proven leader who knows what "good" looks like - and isn't afraid to push for better.

You've likely managed a theatre or similarly complex clinical service before and understand the balancing act between people, performance and patient outcomes. You're commercially aware, operationally sharp and clinically credible.

You're a leader who knows how to develop people, build trust and bring others with you through change.

You will:
  • Be a Registered Nurse or Anaesthetic Tech and hold a current APC
  • Have experience managing a theatre service or equivalent complex healthcare environment
  • Be confident managing performance, workforce planning and service delivery at scale
  • Have experience leading through change, growth or service improvement
  • Be a strong people leader who can coach, develop and lift capability in others
  • Be comfortable working closely with surgeons and senior stakeholders
  • Bring a pragmatic, solutions focused approach with the ability to "pivot" when needed

What's in it for you
  • Competitive Remuneration
  • A genuine opportunity to lead and shape a critical service during a growth phase
  • A highly capable, well-resourced team with strong foundations already in place
  • A values led, supportive GM who leads with trust, autonomy, and partnership
  • Access to a national network of peers, collaboration forums and leadership development opportunities
  • Strong investment in professional development, including scholarships and career pathways
  • Excellent wellbeing benefits, flexibility and a supportive team culture
  • Free parking and modern facilities
  • Monday to Friday roster with some WFH flexibility

If you're ready to step into a role where you can influence performance, lead meaningful change and be part of a high performing private hospital network, it's worth a conversation.
