Based on the West Coast (Greymouth preferred) – Flexible hybrid options available
If you’re motivated by purpose, community impact, and leading meaningful change in mental health, this is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of primary mental health services on the West Coast.
We’re seeking a clinically registered leader to guide a multidisciplinary team supporting mental wellbeing across the region. You’ll be based primarily in Greymouth, with the option to work one day per week from home if you live outside the area. Days of work are flexible and agreed upon at appointment.
About the Role
This is a strategic, forward-looking leadership position — not a caseload-heavy role. You’ll guide mental health service delivery across the region and lead a team of around 10 practitioners , including social workers, nurses, counsellors, psychologists, and occupational therapists.
Your focus will include:
- Weekly 1:1s, coaching, and supervising your team
- Leading integration with general practices and community services
- Managing referral pathways and supporting decision-making around referral pushbacks
- Delivering and coordinating training, education, and professional development
- Monthly reporting, quality improvement, and service performance oversight
- Driving cultural safety, equity, and trauma-informed practice
- Supporting alignment and collaboration across departments and partner agencies
- Providing occasional clinical support when appropriate (but no regular caseload of your own)
What We’re Looking For
You’ll thrive here if you bring:
- Clinical registration (e.g., Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology)
- Solid leadership experience in mental health or primary/community care
- A strong understanding of equity , cultural safety, and Te Tiriti-aligned practice
- The ability to set clear boundaries — leading the team, not trying to “be one of them”
- Openness to change and innovation
- Confidence managing complexity and guiding multidisciplinary teams
- A collaborative, grounded leadership style with warmth, resilience, and humour
This position offers the chance to genuinely shape a mental health service that supports some of Aotearoa’s most tight-knit and resilient communities. Along with the purpose-driven nature of the role, you’ll also enjoy:
- Paid leave between Christmas and New Year (no annual leave required)
- A 4-day working week with flexible day allocation
- Ability to work 1 day from home if not locally based
- Corporate benefit discounts
- A values-driven, community-focused, not-for-profit environment where your impact truly matters
