Service Delivery Manager

$85,000-$110,000 per annum | Five weeks' annual leave
Napier office base | Leading community services across Hastings

About the organisation

Our client is an established community based disability support provider operating across the North Island. Their focus is simple but important - supporting disabled people to live the lives they choose, within their own communities.

Values led and people focused, they are passionate about delivering genuinely person centred services and building capable, well supported teams.

About the job

With the previous manager progressing into an internal quality role, an opportunity has opened to lead supported independent living services across Hastings.

Based in the Napier office (with some work from home flexibility), you will manage support workers who work alongside approximately 60-70 disabled people in their own homes and communities. Each person's goals, circumstances and support needs are different, making this a varied, hands-on operational leadership role.

Your time will be split between coordinating services and getting out into the community to coach staff, build relationships and engage with the people supported and their whānau. The administrative component includes the detail of rosters, referrals, documentation and planning. You will:

  • Coach and support a dispersed team, maintaining strong connections with staff who work independently
  • Coordinate rosters and respond to changing needs, matching people with support workers who suit their goals and preferences
  • Build relationships with community agencies, housing providers and other services to help people access the support they need
  • Work closely with needs assessment and referral teams, reviewing referrals and advocating for appropriate support hours
  • Oversee service quality, budgets, documentation and the safety of staff and people supported, including lone-worker risks
  • Strengthen referral relationships and support growth within the existing service

You will work closely with two other Hawke's Bay Service Delivery Managers, sharing ideas, connections and practical support. Occasional travel is required for induction and regional meetings.

About you

You understand community based services and know how to keep people connected, supported and accountable when they are working across different locations.

Your background could be in disability, mental health, social services, transitional support or disability employment services. You bring sound judgement, a practical approach and the confidence to work through changing priorities. You will have:

  • Experience leading teams, ideally with staff working independently in the community
  • Strong operational skills, including rostering, coordination and managing competing demands
  • The ability to coach staff, address performance concerns and build a positive team culture
  • Confidence building relationships across agencies and navigating community support
  • A commitment to disabled people's rights, choice and control, with culturally responsive practice
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, including at least two years in health, disability or social services and at least one year managing a team
  • Confidence using digital systems, a full clean New Zealand driver's licence and willingness to travel occasionally

Existing Hawke's Bay networks would be valuable. If you are new to the region, your ability to build trusted community relationships will be equally important.

Benefits

  • $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, reflecting your experience.
  • Five weeks' annual leave.
  • Some flexibility to work from home.
  • Access to a shared pool car for work travel.
  • A structured induction, including time in Wellington with shared support teams.
  • Weekly coaching with your General Manager for the first three months, followed by ongoing regular support.
  • A close knit local management team and access to support from the previous manager.
  • An organisation that supports internal career progression.
