What we are looking for
We are currently seeking a Senior Theatre Nurse who will take on the Team Leadership opportunity for the 10 New State of the Art Theatres, which opened earlier this year.
The specialities focussed on within this new environment are General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Plastics and Cardiac. Your knowledge and and experience either or all of these specialities will be essential.
This opportunity is a full time opportunity (1.0) working afternoon shifts (12:30pm to 9:00pm) based on current needs, although these hours may change and be more dynamic in the future.
Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Theatre Nurse (Expert portfolio - desirable) looking to take their first or a continued step into Leadership. As the role will take a more direct focus across people management and operational leadership .
Duties of the Role
- Running the department in the latter hours of the day
- Directing workforce utilisation
- Providing on floor support for staff and specialists
- Efficient communication with other parties e.g. wards, external couriers, main reception, cleaners, blood bank, pathology etc.
- Helping to plan for the next day
Your Background To succeed and thrive in this role, you'll bring:
- Strong experience as a theatre RN scrubbing for a variety of surgical cases - e.g. General, Ortho, ENT, Plastics, Cardiac - within a NZ hospital (or similar environment)
- Some experience supervising OR services and/or people
- Strong coordination and delegation skills - you think on your feet and make effective decisions
- A positive attitude and professional maturity
- Experience building positive relationships with all members of the Operating Rooms including Surgeons and Anaesthetists
*Please note that we are currently not in a position to advance any Nurses who apply that do not hold current or recent experience working within NZ, Australian or UK based Hospitals ED, HDU or ICU environments.
