RWR Health is proud to be partnering with a highly respected specialist healthcare provider to recruit a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join their palliative care team in Whangārei.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team supporting patients with life-limiting illnesses, helping them remain comfortable, independent, and well-supported within their own homes and communities.
About the Role
As a Community Palliative Care Registered Nurse, you will provide specialist nursing care and support to patients and their whānau across the wider Whangārei region.
Working collaboratively with medical professionals, allied health clinicians, support services, and family members, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred palliative care that promotes dignity, comfort, and quality of life.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive nursing assessments and care planning
- Delivering community-based palliative and end-of-life care
- Supporting symptom management and patient wellbeing
- Working closely with patients, whānau, GPs, and multidisciplinary teams
- Educating and supporting family members and carers
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and care records
- Participating in on-call and after-hours support as required
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
- Current New Zealand Registered Nurse registration and APC
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Previous experience in palliative care, community nursing, hospice care, aged care, oncology, or complex chronic disease management
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care
- Ability to work autonomously while remaining connected to a wider multidisciplinary team
- Full New Zealand Driver Licence
