About the role
You’ll care for people living with life-limiting illness, helping manage symptoms and providing comfort as their needs change. You’ll also support whānau through difficult conversations and help them understand what to expect as someone approaches the end of life.
You’ll assess patients, recognise changes in their condition and respond to symptoms such as pain, breathlessness and nausea. You’ll work with the wider team to adapt care plans around each patient’s goals and preferences, and provide clear documentation and handovers so care stays consistent across shifts.
What you’ll bring
- You will be a New Zealand Registered Nurse and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Previous palliative care nursing experience in a hospice, hospital or community setting where caring for palliative patients was a regular part of your work
- Confidence in symptom assessment and management, with sound judgement about when to escalate concerns
- A calm, culturally responsive approach to working with patients and whānau
- Availability to work a 0.6 FTE roster
