Remote Work From Anywhere in New Zealand | Flexible Hours | Employee or Contractor
What if you could use your specialist expertise to help improve access to adult ADHD care across New Zealand, without taking on a traditional full-time clinical workload?
RWR Health is proud to partner with an innovative telehealth provider focused on making adult ADHD assessment and treatment more accessible, timely, and patient-centred.
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide specialist clinical oversight to a team of General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners delivering adult ADHD assessments across New Zealand.
This is an opportunity to use your expertise where it matters most—supporting clinical decision-making, maintaining high standards of care, and helping clinicians deliver safe, consistent and evidence-based ADHD assessments.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Work remotely from anywhere in New Zealand
- Flexible hours with employee or contractor options
- Provide specialist oversight without a high-volume patient caseload
- Support and develop a multidisciplinary team of GPs and Nurse Practitioners
- Help shape clinical standards within an innovative telehealth service
- Minimal administration, with dedicated coordinators managing the operational workload
As Consultant Psychiatrist, you'll act as the specialist clinical backstop for a growing adult ADHD service.
Your focus will be on reviewing and signing off diagnostic assessments completed by GPs and Nurse Practitioners, providing clinical supervision and acting as a trusted source of specialist advice when complex cases arise.
You'll also chair a weekly multidisciplinary team meeting, ensuring cases are discussed thoroughly and that clear clinical outcomes and next steps are agreed.
Alongside this, you'll contribute to the service's Clinical Governance programme, helping shape protocols, audit processes and ongoing clinical standards.
This is a role for a Psychiatrist who enjoys clinical leadership, collaboration and improving the quality of care , rather than simply delivering consultations.
Your Role You'll be responsible for:
- Reviewing and providing clinical sign-off for adult ADHD assessments
- Providing clinical supervision to GP and Nurse Practitioner assessors
- Supporting clinicians with complex diagnostic and clinical questions
- Chairing weekly multidisciplinary team meetings
- Providing specialist input into differential diagnosis and clinical risk
- Contributing to clinical governance, protocols and audit
- Supporting consistent, evidence-based clinical standards
- Promoting culturally safe, patient-centred practice
You are a vocationally registered Psychiatrist with strong experience in adult ADHD who enjoys working collaboratively within a modern, digitally enabled healthcare environment.
You'll bring:
- Vocational registration in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Current Annual Practising Certificate
- FRANZCP or recognised equivalent
- Current medical indemnity insurance
- Strong understanding of adult ADHD and DSM-5 diagnostic criteria
- Confidence with stimulant prescribing within the New Zealand healthcare environment
- Experience providing clinical supervision or specialist clinical guidance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence working autonomously within a remote environment
Culture & Environment
You'll be joining a growing multidisciplinary team committed to making adult ADHD care more accessible across New Zealand.
The service has been designed around a simple principle: patients shouldn't have to wait years to access quality ADHD assessment and care.
You'll work alongside GPs, Nurse Practitioners and other specialist clinicians within a supportive environment that values:
- Clinical excellence
- Collaboration and shared learning
- Accessible healthcare
- Evidence-based practice
- Continuous improvement
- Patient-centred care
You can:
- Work entirely remotely
- Choose flexible working arrangements
- Engage as an employee or contractor
- Focus on specialist clinical oversight rather than administration
- Support a growing national service without committing to a traditional full-time position
Why This Opportunity?
Adult ADHD care in New Zealand is evolving rapidly.
This is an opportunity to be part of that change—providing the clinical leadership and specialist oversight that ensures patients receive safe, high-quality and consistent care.
For a Consultant Psychiatrist looking for flexibility, meaningful clinical influence and the opportunity to help shape a growing service, this is a role worth exploring.
