Youthline, in partnership with RWR Health, is seeking a skilled and experienced Overnight Clinical Practitioner to join our nationwide Helpline team. This is a permanent, work-from-home position offering the chance to make a meaningful impact while working independently during critical overnight hours.
About the Role:
The Overnight Clinical Practitioner is a key member of the Youthline Helpline team, responsible for providing clinical leadership, assessment, and support during overnight shifts. As this role operates with limited on-call support, we’re looking for someone confident in making autonomous decisions and managing complex risk scenarios with calm, sound judgement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time clinical assessment and support to young people contacting the Helpline via phone, text, webchat, and email
- Lead risk and crisis management decisions, including follow-ups on high-risk or case-managed clients
- Mentor and guide volunteer counsellors during overnight shifts
- Monitor misuse of service and implement appropriate responses
- Maintain detailed, accurate records and contribute to incident reviews
- A highly experienced and confident clinician, ideally with a background in youth mental health or telehealth services
- Strong capacity to work independently, make time-sensitive decisions, and manage clinical risk overnight
- Technologically proficient and adaptable to multiple digital platforms
- Empathetic, resilient, and passionate about youth wellbeing
- While the role is fully remote, you must be based in Auckland to complete in-person training and onboarding.
- A practitioner under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act 2003 (e.g. nurse, psychologist, psychotherapist, occupational therapist)
- A fully registered Social Worker
- A fully registered member of NZAC (Counsellor)
- A fully registered DAPAANZ practitioner (Alcohol and Drug/Gambling)
- A purpose-driven role with flexibility to work from home
- Supportive team culture with a strong commitment to professional development and clinical supervision
- Direct impact on the lives of young people and the volunteers who support them
- Permanent position with the stability and structure to grow your practice
