About the organisation
Our client is an established New Zealand owned primary healthcare provider with practices across the country. It holds Trust status so profits go back into its clinics, people and services, rather than a return to shareholders. Local leaders have the flexibility to respond to their communities.
Across its Wellington CBD and Lower Hutt practices, Nurse Practitioners are valued members of the clinical team. Dedicated clinical, nursing and administration leaders provide a supportive structure, with local flexibility and the backing of an experienced national organisation.
About the job and you
Bring your assessment, diagnostic and treatment skills to a permanent general practice role where you can build lasting relationships with patients and contribute your expertise.
Opportunities are available in Wellington CBD and Lower Hutt, with scope to work across both practices. The CBD practice serves approximately 3,000 generally healthier patients, while Lower Hutt supports approximately 7,000–7,500 patients, including a significant high-needs population.
You will manage varied presentations across the lifespan, support people with long-term conditions and work alongside GPs, nurses and fellow NPs. Sessions allow approximately three hours of patient-facing appointments and one hour of administration, with flexibility around appointment structure.
We are looking for someone with:
- A broad background in general practice or primary care.
- Confidence assessing and managing a varied patient caseload.
- A practical, adaptable approach and sound clinical judgement.
- A collaborative style and commitment to continuity of care.
Experience in women’s health and long-term conditions would be welcome.
US and Canadian Nurse Practitioners are encouraged to enquire.
The team has previously supported US-trained NPs through their transition to New Zealand practice. The registration pathway, supervision arrangements and starting scope of work would be explored individually.
Benefits of working here
- $70–$100 per hour, depending on experience and registration status.
- Part-time opportunities of approximately 0.6–0.8 FTE.
- Dedicated administration time built into clinical sessions.
- Mentoring from an experienced Fellow and Clinical Lead, alongside support from existing NPs.
- A team that understands and values the Nurse Practitioner contribution.
- Choice of practice setting, with scope to work across both locations.
- A car park provided at the Lower Hutt practice.
- Wellington and Hutt Valley lifestyle opportunities, from the coast to the hills.
