About the Job
This is not your standard health and safety job. As Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager , you’ll be at the heart of the People & Culture team, helping shape a workplace where safety is lived and breathed - not just ticked off a checklist.
Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer , you’ll partner closely with leaders and frontline teams to create a culture where everyone feels ownership of safety and wellbeing. Some days you’ll be influencing strategy at the executive table; other days you’ll be side by side with care teams, finding practical ways to make their working lives safer and easier.
Your focus will be on:
- Leading with purpose – Designing a health, safety & wellbeing roadmap that puts people at the centre.
- Inspiring culture change – Coaching, guiding, and encouraging teams to see safety as part of how they care for each other.
- Supporting wellbeing – Driving initiatives that promote both physical and mental wellbeing, so teams feel truly supported.
- Practical impact – Giving leaders and staff the confidence, tools, and know how to keep themselves and others safe every day.
- Learning and improving – Turning insights into action, making sure the organisation is always moving forward.
This role will suit someone who thrives on connection, influence, and making a real difference. You’ll bring:
- A recognised Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience leading health and safety in a people centred, regulated environment (aged care, healthcare, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of NZ H&S legislation, and the skill to turn compliance into meaningful, human focused action.
- The confidence to work at both strategic and hands on levels.
- Warmth, empathy and the ability to build trust and inspire change at every level of the organisation.
- Based in either Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch
Salary circa $150k
In this position you will shape not just systems and processes, but the everyday experiences of people. You will enjoy:
- The scale to make an impact
- The closeness to feel valued
- The freedom to innovate
- The chance to lead change
