About the Organisation


Te Rangihaeata Oranga Trust (Gambling Recovery Service Hawke’s Bay) is a Kaupapa Māori service working to reduce gambling harm and enhance Māori wellbeing. They are grounded in the values of rongomau, aroha, pono, tika and rangimārie.

About the Job

Be the heart of community engagement, connecting with whānau and hapori Māori to raise awareness of gambling harm. This hands-on, people-first role will see you designing, leading, and attending community events - from sausage sizzles in the park to hauora focused hui. You'll be responsible for putting together a calendar of events and turning ideas into action, with the flexibility to shape how these events look and feel.

What You’ll Do:
● Be the face of the Trust in the community - planning, delivering, attending and promoting events that strengthen connection and awareness
● Engage with whānau, marae, kura, community providers, and other local champions
● Work closely with the Communication & Resources Health Promoter to amplify messaging
● Provide monthly updates through visual and written reporting
● This is a proactive, community-led role ideal for someone who loves kanohi ki te kanohi connection and can take initiative to bring communities together with purpose.
● Travel to Wairoa ideally on at least a quarterly basis

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5pm. There will be some community events after hours and on the weekends that you’ll need to be available for (ie: Waitangi Day).

About You

● You have strong connections to your iwi and marae, and bring cultural grounding to your mahi
● Confident and approachable - you enjoy being out in the community and engaging kanohi te kanohi
● Comfortable working in areas of high deprivation and driven to make a real impact where it’s needed most
● Able to develop clear structure and direction - organised, practical and good at making things happen
● Passionate about Māori health and raising awareness around gambling harm
● Ideally hold a qualification or training in health promotion or Hauora Māori, or bring equivalent experience
● Grounded, flexible, and motivated by meaningful, community-centered work
● Full Drivers Licence
