About the Job
We’re seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Clinical Nurse Leader to lead a high-functioning team of six experienced community nurses across Wellington, Palmerston North, and Hawke’s Bay.
Based in Lower Hutt and co-located with the community needs assessment team, you’ll have a unique cross view and the opportunity to drive collaboration, innovation, and service development .
This is not just about oversight - you’ll be hands-on, conducting joint visits, providing education on specialist care, ensuring competencies are up to date, and nurturing a strong, connected team culture. You’ll also contribute to exciting initiatives like the Central Hawke’s Bay Integrated Healthcare Pilot , where nurses work holistically with ambulance crews and local providers to deliver equity focused care in rural areas.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting a geographically spread team
- Ensuring clinical excellence, service quality, and compliance
- Managing complex cases, complaints, and clinical exceptions
- Building strong relationships with local providers, GPs, and hospitals
- Overseeing audits, professional development, and team performance reviews
- Driving collaborative projects that improve access and outcomes
- NZ Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Minimum 5 years’ nursing experience (District/Community Nursing preferred)
- Strong leadership skills with a collaborative and proactive approach
- Expertise in wound care and/or catheter care highly regarded
- Skilled in managing complex care and long-term conditions
- Full NZ driver’s licence and willingness to travel monthly to see each team member in person
- Confident with IT systems and clinical administration
- Excellent work-life balance. Monday–Friday, no evenings
- Minimal on-call roster – one weekend every six weeks (daytime only)
