Boasting 22 operating theatres across 3 sites to accommodate the surgical lists that they manage. Their surgical specialties include: Cardiothoracic, Orthopaedic/Spinal, Colorectal/Gastro, Gynae, Urology, Neurology, Oncology, Plastics, Head & Neck, (incl free flap reconstructive surgery), ENT/ORL, Cardiothoracic, and Vascular.
The Role | Clinical Nurse Advisor - Advanced Nursing Team
We are currently seeking a Clinical Nurse Advisor who will join the current Advanced Nursing Team.
You will act as the first responder to clinical emergencies, alongside working to support colleagues and delivering effective management in clinical deterioration cases.
Reporting directly to the Charge Nurse Manager we are able to offer dynamic shift patterns which are are: On weekdays - 8 hr PMs or 10 hr nights, & on weekends - 12 hr days & nights.
This is a permanent role 0.8 FTE (32 hrs per week)
Duties of the role
- Managing staff & providing leadership of operational activities during after-hours and weekends
- Providing specialist, evidenced based, clinical support and expertise at the bedside to our nursing staff
- Using your advanced assessment skills to support the clinical assessment of patients causing concern and escalating as appropriate
- Monitoring staffing levels and adjusting as required to maintain safe staffing
- Liaising with our in-house Bureau to ensure bed allocations and casual staffing are managed appropriately
- A high level of clinical expertise and leadership
- Clinical expertise in a critical care environment within a NZ Hospital (or similar - e.g. Australia, UK, Ireland)
- Current advanced clinical skills e.g. cannulation, phlebotomy, ECG, catheterisation
- ACLS certification
