What we are looking for
We are currently seeking an experienced  Charge Nurse / Nurse Lead  to take on a pivotal leadership role within a busy  General Practice and Urgent Care clinic environment .
This is a hands-on clinical leadership position where you will oversee day-to-day nursing operations, lead and develop multidisciplinary nursing teams, and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
As the senior nursing leader within the clinic, you'll play a critical role in operational coordination, staff development, quality improvement, and equity-focused healthcare delivery.

The opportunity - Across three practices based in West Auckland
In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Leading and coordinating the day-to-day clinical operations of the clinic
  • Providing strong, visible leadership and professional guidance to nursing staff and healthcare technicians
  • Supporting and delivering  nurse-led consults , including urgent care, acute infections, sexual health, women's health, long-term condition management, ACC and planned care
  • Ensuring efficient patient flow, staffing allocation, and safe workload management
  • Acting as a key clinical resource for staff, offering real-time support, mentoring and escalation guidance
  • Driving high standards of clinical governance, infection control, health & safety, and audit compliance
  • Supporting population health outcomes, including immunisation, cervical screening, diabetes and CVDRA targets
  • Playing an active role in reducing Māori health inequities in line with  Te Tiriti o Waitangi  obligations
  • Working closely with Regional Clinical Leads, Medical Directors, Nurse Educators and senior stakeholders
  • Leading staff orientation, performance conversations, ongoing 1:1s and professional development planning
  • Contributing to service improvement initiatives, KPI monitoring and quality improvement projects
This is a  permanent leadership role , ideal for a senior RN who enjoys balancing clinical work with operational and people leadership.

Your background
To succeed and thrive in this role, you'll bring:
  • Current  New Zealand Registered Nurse  registration with APC
  • A minimum of  5 years' clinical experience  as an RN in a relevant setting
  • Proven leadership experience as a  Charge Nurse, Deputy Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse or similar
  • Strong experience delivering  nurse-led clinics  and autonomous nursing consults
  • Excellent clinical judgement, delegation and decision-making skills
  • Confidence managing staffing, performance, KPIs and clinic operations
  • A collaborative leadership style with strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine commitment to health equity, patient-centred care and continuous improvement
  • Post-graduate qualification (or willingness to commence within 12 months)
  • RN Prescribing in Community Health (preferred but not essential)
  • Full legal right to work in New Zealand and compliance with the Vulnerable Children Act
