When it’s time to move on from your current job, there’s a few things you should be aware of and prepared for.

Start by reviewing and developing your personal employment brand, download our free personal brand development guide here.

Have your resume ready, a great resume will secure you an interview.

  • Accuracy is key, be honest with your experience, responsibilities, and achievements.
  • Use a common software program and keep the CV format simple.
  • List your previous experience starting from your most recent job.
  • Include your responsibilities and stand out achievements.
  • Don’t leave gaps in your CV. If you took a year off sailing Europe, include it!
  • Opt for bullet points instead of paragraphs.
  • Keep your resume as a live document and update it annually.

Start your job hunt:

  • Have you asked if there are any opportunities for you to progress in your current organisation?
  • Are you open to relocating locally or internationally? Do some research on job opportunities in other regions or countries?
  • Visit job boards for employment opportunities such as RWR Health, Seek, Trademe, and LinkedIn.
  • Reach out and engage with your network, for example, your university alumni.
